Our apprenticeship programs are conducted jointly by Operating Engineers Local Union #3 and union employers covering Northern California. The state registers our apprenticeship programs, working with forward-looking businesses across California to develop the skilled workforce of the future. Our Trust Fund provides funding to the JAC to cover the substantial costs of training apprentice surveyors and inspectors—funds that are derived from our employer training fund contributions. The JAC is responsible for designing and managing the classroom educational programs, placing apprentices with contractors for required on-the-job training, and supervising the successful training and advancement of apprentices through our four- and five-year apprenticeship programs.
