This training course provides instruction covering specific topics related to welding inspection including: Weld and Base Metal Discontinuities, Visual Inspection and Other NDE Methods and Symbols, and Metric Practice for Welding Inspectors.
Course objectives include:
- Differentiate between a discontinuity and a defect, and identify the various discontinuities associated with welds and base metals, and explain the likely cause or causes of a given discontinuity or defect.
- Explain the visual inspection process throughout the production of welded joints, compare and contrast non-destructive testing methods for welded joints, and evaluate weld quality using specified criteria.
- Identify prefixes for metric units, convert US customary values to metric and vice versa, and apply specific number rounding convention.
