This course is intended to prepare special inspectors to interpret and utilize the plans, notes, and details particular to structural wood framing.

After completing this course participants will be able to…

  • Distinguish relevant information in structural drawings for wood framing.
  • Appraise the extent to which the work performed complies with the relevant drawings.
  • Defend their interpretations of structural requirements for wood framing by reference to applicable plans, notes, and details.

This course is 4 classroom hours worth 0.4 ICC Preferred Provider continuing education units and is open to active registered apprentices in the Northern California Construction Inspectors Apprenticeship or who are active journeymen inspectors in the Operating Engineers Local Union 3’s Northern California jurisdiction.

This seminar will be held online using Zoom with students able to participate in the class from the comfort of their own homes. Each participant will need a free Zoom account registered in their own name, a microphone, and a webcam in order to receive credit for attending this class. A properly configured tablet or smartphone may be used in lieu of the microphone or webcam, please contact program staff for guidance.

Invitations for the Zoom event will be sent to the email addresses associated with your teapprenticeship.org accounts after registration closes.

On the day of the course the Zoom meeting room will be open by 7:15 AM and students will be expected to be logged on no later than 7:45 AM so that attendance may be taken. Late attendees will be unable to join the event.

The seminar will begin at 8:00 AM. Students will be expected to remain on camera at all times that the class is in session and to participate where called upon to do so. Students judged to be absentee by program staff may be removed without credit.

Online registration for this seminar will open on November 1st at 12:01 AM and will close on November 11th at 7:00 AM. Cancellations will not be allowed once registrations have closed, please plan accordingly.
